Then I came across Brown Eyed Baker's Oreo Cheesecake cookies, and that was that. I mean, cookie covered cookies? I'm in!
A soft cheesecake dough is made, then rolled into Oreo crumbs, creaking a beautiful Oreo crackle. I love the contrast of black and white, and I love how they taste too.
My dad, who has a late-night sweet tooth but isn't usually big into desserts, dubbed these "the best cookies he's had in the last ten years"...which makes me wonder what cookie he ate eleven years ago, but I digress ;)
These were gone by the next day, which says more than anything I could.
Oh, and there's no eggs in this cookie! S's sister has an egg allergy so I am definitely making these for her soon.
And, Multiply Delicious has a Chocolate Orange Cheesecake cookie too - this is next on my list!
Oreo Cheesecake Cookies
Recipe from Brown Eyed Baker, adapted from Tasty Kitchen, originally from Multiply Delicious
Yield: About 1 dozen cookies (mine made about 1 1/2 dozen, as I used around 1 inch balls of dough)
½ cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
3 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
1 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
½ cup mini chocolate chips (I didn't have minis so I left these out)
1 cup Oreo cookie crumbs
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper (this is important! I was out of parchment and my cookies got a little overcooked on the bottom, I think the Oreo crumbs cooked quickly on the hot baking sheet and caused this) and set aside.
2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and cream cheese on medium speed until smooth and well-combined.
3. Add the sugar and vanilla extract and mix until the ingredients are well-combined. Add the flour and mix on low until the flour is incorporated. Stir in the mini chocolate chips with a rubber spatula.
4. Place the Oreo cookie crumbs in a small bowl. Scoop the cookies into about 1½ to 2″ balls (the dough will be soft, don' t worry if it doesn't scoop into a well-formed ball, the crumbs will help hold it together) and then roll in the cookie crumbs. Place the cookie balls on the baking sheet. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the tops are slightly puffed.
5. Cool on the pan for 2 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Store in an airtight container.

Just "stumbled" upon your recipe. I am hooked to your delicious recipes and beautiful photography. I must say I was pleasantly surprised how young you are. Keep up the fantastic blog!!!
ReplyDeleteMy cookies din become cookies... they jus stayed as little oreo covered burnt balls :'( YYYY??? :'(
ReplyDeleteChinika - Oh no! Did you use parchment paper when you baked the cookies? I didn't have any at the time and noticed that mine were a little overcooked on the bottom (I made note of this in the recipe). I think that the oreo crumbs cook too quickly on the baking sheet without parchment.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the butter and cream cheese wasn't quite at room temperature?
Sorry they didn't work out for you!
found you on pinterest and had to make them. YUM!!! Mine turned out perfectly (used parchment paper, softened my butter and cream cheese in the microwave) and I ate too many. Oh, my dough was super soft and sticky, but I just kind of threw globs of it into the oreo crumbs (I'll crunch it more for the next batch). Seriously, drool! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI just made these and holy crap. Hands down, the best thing I've baked so far and it was so easy! THANK YOU!! ^_^
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you loved them! Now I'm craving them :) I need to make them again soon!
ReplyDeleteI love that these are egg-free. My son also has an egg allergy so I am always on the prowl for a great egg-free dessert recipe. Thanks. Cant wait to try these
ReplyDeleteThese are THE BEST cookies in the whole world.
ReplyDeleteJust made these today - holy amazing deliciousness!!!!! Wow are they good!!! Thanks so much for sharing!!! :)
ReplyDeletehttp://sweetandsassy-sherry.blogspot.com/
You're welcome!! I just made them again last night and fell in love with them all over again :) so glad you enjoyed them!
ReplyDeleteI made these a few weeks ago, and my suitemates loved them! I actually didn't crush up the oreos all the way though (they weren't crumbs), and they added a great amount of texture! I will definitely be posting about how delicious these are on my blog next week! (with a link to your blog!)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great recipe!
Do these have to be refrigerated?
ReplyDeleteMandy, I haven't refrigerated them and haven't had a problem :) they might be extra-yummy when refrigerated with more of a cold cheesecake taste...I may have to try it!
ReplyDeleteA friend of mine sent me this link a while back and I had forgotten about it until today. I MUST make these his weekend for my husband, he loves Oreos and cheesecake, so I know he'll die over these! :)
ReplyDeletejust got mine out of the oven :) the batter tastes GREAT by the way
ReplyDeleteThese look so awesome! I love Oreo's, like a package a week love them. They are actually vegan as am I so I'm going to try to make this recipe vegan and see how it goes. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteJust made these, has anyone else run into the problem that they create SO SO much steam? They look great, but they are filling my house with steam. I also ran into the problem of having the dough really gloopy and I had to just throw dough into the cookie crumbs
ReplyDeleteThese oreo cookies look amazing! I think I'm going to have to save the recipe and try them! Maybe I'll make some for my grandmother when she gets off her diet!
ReplyDeleteAlright so this is my second time making these, so obviously they are a keeper! BUT a few tips for anyone making them. I would recommend putting the dough in the fridge for 10 minutes or so because it is SO sticky. I've also found that I use more oreos than the recipe calls for. Also, BEWARE OF BROWNING. I usually like my cookies a little overdone and crunchy, but just a little bit of brown on these will turn them from cheesecake dreams to crunchy crumbles. All in all, still a WONDERFUL recipe.
ReplyDeleteWill they still turn out good if I use self rising flour? That's all I have at home and don't want to buy more.
ReplyDeleteFound you on pinterest! Just a quick question: for the Oreo cookie crumbs, if I'm starting with whole Oreos, do I scrape the white frosting off and only use the cookie part for crumbs, or do I do my food processor to crush up the entire cookie - frosting and all? I'm leaning toward just using the cookie, but wanted to confirm. Thanks!
